Rock ’n’ Roll Comics publishers Revolutionary Comics stray far from their usual musical terrain with Deepest Dimension, a terror anthology. Nevertheless, under the hand of editor George Clayton Johnson (Classic Twilight Zone and Star-Trek writer), they do an excellent job of it.
The secret lies in their adaptations of classic stories by the likes of Robert Bloch and Larry Niven. Tales like “Sea Change” take you aboard a dingy boat where murder and spontaneous regeneration make for a horrifying mix. Also featured is “The Jigsaw Man,” a terrifying glimpse of a future where “organleggers” steal body parts from the living for medical transplants—and where the government enacts the death penalty for the smallest offenses, since execution is no longer a simple waste of human life. After all, in the future, you can recycle the bodies!
